My family's business, Toiles de Mayenne was founded in 1806 and today is the only French textile company that is still able to manufacture every processes for the production of finished fabrics.
Located in the peaceful village of Fontaine Daniel, the setting is a testament to the philosophies and dedicated work ethics behind seven generations of management. The family home and business is located in a Cistercian Abbey that was sold as a National Estate during the French Revolution. In 1806 it was bought by Jean Pierre Horem and Mrs Biarez as a partnership, and it is not until 1832 that the Denis came into the textile business which is now managed by my three cousins Gregoire, Raphael and Michael Denis.
Through decades of historical and political conflicts of change including two world wars, it is today a thriving and expanding business.
You can visit the main shop located in Fontaine Daniel which has a square surrounded by plane trees, a restaurant and tea room. The chapel overlooking the lake was designed by my grandfather Jean Denis and the waters are still used for the dyeing of the yarns.
